A Delightful Day!
A mom’s day out – doesn’t that sound like a dream!! Well, some of the Manor residents together with the Activity Department provided an afternoon of daycare services on Tuesday, July 16 for seven delightful little girls. We really don’t know what their mothers all did – some had plans to go shopping or maybe take a nap! But WE had fun!! Joining us for the afternoon were Ava, Samantha, Kennedy, Grayson, Allison, Rachel and Faith. The first activity of the afternoon was a story read by Priscilla Schmidt so we all traipsed down to the Friendship Lane Solarium to listen to a story about Mrs. Goose and the Party. On our way back to the Activity Room we stopped in at Nina Koehn’s room to enjoy her animal collection! The girls particularly enjoyed the little puppy that barked, begged and did a flip! Once back in the Activity Room we played Going On A Bear Hunt – an interactive rhyme game that Nina would do with the children after sewing circles at the Grace church. Next Esther Yost had chosen a Bible story about Daniel and the Lions Den so while she read the girls colored a picture of Daniel with the lions. They also had a postcard to take home about the story. When asked why Daniel was so bright in the picture one little girl said “That is the angel shining on him”. The girls then played I Spy with Veleda Loewen – they tried to find the thimble where someone had hid it. There was quite a bunch of Manor ladies watching them as they played this game. We then enjoyed a snack together that Priscilla and Esther had planned – cookies, potato chips and cheese curls, ice cream bars and blue-raspberry lemonade. To top off the afternoon we made pinwheels and then had a Pinwheel Parade – as we walked about the Manor many of the residents greeted the girls with happy smiles! It was an enjoyable afternoon together!! And we hope their moms had fun, too!
